Cha-Am and Hua Hin are located southwest of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand and are easily accessible from Bangkok by car, bus, and train.
These quiet seaside resorts are ideal destinations for family holidays, with their beautiful sandy beaches and coves together forming a coastline of more than 25 km.
Hua Hin and Cha-Am are both closely associated with the Thai royal family. The Thai royal family can regularly be found in the summer residence Klai Kangwon ('Far from All Worries') near Hua Hin.
Numerous water sports facilities are available. The rural surroundings are ideal for cycling trips and the region is home to several beautiful world-class golf courses, cultural and historical attractions. The nearby jungle also offers an excellent alternative if you want something different than a day at the beach.

Cha-Am
Cha-am is in the Phetchaburi province, less than a 3-hour drive from Bangkok (about 180 km) and about 20 km north of Hua Hin. The pleasant town has a 5 km long beach, a beautiful wide sandy beach with shops and restaurants on the boulevard and facilities such as bicycle rental. It is very quiet during the week, but during weekends and on public holidays it is a frequented resort by mainly residents of Bangkok. On the beach of Cha-am we meet Thai families, provided with the necessary food and drink. On the north side of the beach road is the fishing harbor with many seafood restaurants. Cha Am is a destination for the traveler who appreciates a quiet environment where there is no mass tourism. You can take long beach walks along the beautiful coastline, take a nice bike ride, spend a day playing golf, explore beautiful nature parks, eat delicious fresh Thai fish specialties and, if desired, find a quiet spot to read a good book with the sound and smell of the sea in the background.

Hua Hin
Thailand’s original beach resort, Hua Hin is one of the top tourist destinations of Thailand from its great number of attractions and activities - plus it isn’t far from Bangkok - located 200 km southwest of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand, in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Once a quiet fishing village, it grew into a fashionable beachside escape for residents of Bangkok after the 1920s, when the Thai royal family built summer palaces here. A favorite getaway for Bangkok residents and foreigners alike, Hua Hin features a beautiful, powdery sand beach, numerous fine international and seaside seafood restaurants, a lively night market, a beautiful railway station, numerous beach activities, watersports and waterparks, beautiful national parks, and some great inland activities, not least of which is golfing at some of Thailand’s most renowned courses. Just down the coast at Takiab Bay, visitors can take seaside horseback rides and visit a hilltop Buddhist temple with a spectacular view. Accommodation along the beach and on the streets leading away from the sea ranges from simple guesthouses to luxury resorts and high-end hotels and includes some of the finest spa-retreats in the world. Hua Hin is accessible via train, bus, or car and the seaside community of 60,000 residents is a fine example of warm and welcoming Thai hospitality.

Hua Hin - Takiab Bay
Situated at the southern end of Hua Hin, just 4 kilometers from the town, stands Khao Takiab, a 272m high hill that is easily visible from the beach in Hua Hin. Especially the 20m high golden Buddha statue is an eye-catcher. Visitors can go up the hilltop to enjoy a bird's eye view of Hua Hin and the small island of Koh Singtoh, 800m offshore. Sights & Excursions
The area surrounding Hua Hin and Cha-am offers its visitors many attractions and opportunities for sporting activities and interesting excursions to impressive historical and cultural sites and national parks.
Phetchaburi - 40 km north of Cha-Am
The city is home to many beautiful temples, including Wat Mahathat. The place is best known for the Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, the 19th century summer palace complex of King Mongkhut (Rama IV). Various buildings are spread over 3 hills and are connected by footpaths amidst the forests and rocks and offer a beautiful view of the city. You can also visit the nearby Khao Luang cave with its stalactites and many Buddha images.
Kaeng Krachan Dam – 48 km northwest of Cha-Am
The 45 -sq km Kaeng Krachan water reservoir is in the Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand’s largest national park, and offers scenic boat rides.
Puek-Tian – 18 km north of Cha-Am
This small beach resort town is known for its many statues, which represent characters from poems by the country's most famous poet Sunthon Phu. These images are scattered over the beach, the road along the beach and in the sea.
Khao Nang Phanthurat Forest Park - 3km north of Cha-Am
This park is a limestone mountain with many caves. There is a large garden at the entrance, then you can follow the trail and climb up the mountain to discover some caves and enjoy a view of the coast. There are steps all the way up, but you still need to wear proper shoes.
Marukhathaiyawan Palace - 9km south of Cha-Am at Camp Rama VI military compound
Like many buildings in Hua Hin, this Thai-Victorian style summer seaside palace was constructed in the early 1920s during the reign of King Rama VI, set on a vast manicured landscape fronting idyllic Cha Am Beach.

Hua Hin Hills Vineyard – a 45 minute-drive west of Hua Hin

Pala-U Waterfall - 60 Km west of Hua Hin, a one-hour drive.
On the south side of the Kaeng Krachan National Park, bordering Myanmar. Pala-U Waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in Thailand, divided into sixteen smaller waterfalls. At the bottom of each waterfall is a pool where you can bathe or take a dip.
Pranburi Forest Park – 25 km south of Hua Hin
Features one of Thailand’s largest mangrove forests. A wooden walkway has been constructed spanning one km of the forest. At the end of the path, you will reach a small pier. From here, you may hire a boat to take you through the mangrove river.
Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park – 50 km south of Hua Hin
Khao Sam Roi Yot is a labyrinth of caves, coves, and viewpoints attaining nirvana for outdoor enthusiasts. Spend the day exploring reticent beaches, desolate islands, freshwater marshes, and ethereal caverns. Phraya Nakhon Cave is a must see.
Kuiburi National Park – 80 km south of Hua Hin
Known to be the best wild elephant and gaur sighting spot in Thailand. It is almost 99% sure the visitors will see wild elephants any given day of the year in the Kuiburi National Park’s wildlife watching area.
Snorkeling at Koh Talu – near Bang Saphan
A nearly 3 hours' drive on Petchkasem road from Cha-Am / Hua Hin to Bangsaphan in Prachuap Khiri Khan province and 20 minutes from the coast by speed boat. The small islands of Koh Talu are lovely snorkeling spots, good for a snorkeling daytrip.
