Discovery Tour 4

Day 1: Chiang Mai - Mae Sariang (approx. 190 km)

Depart from Chiang Mai to Mae Wang National Park, where you will hike to Pha Chor Cliff. The columns and walls created by erosion are a special natural attraction. Then you will visit the Ob Luang National Park. Here you walk to the spectacular ravine and over the 'nature trail' with prehistoric rock and cave paintings. After lunch you continue to the town of Mae Sariang, where tourism is still in its early stages.

Day 2: Mae Sariang - Mae Hong Son (approx. 155 km)

After breakfast, begin the ascent to the mountain town of Mae Hong Son. A great route with many beautiful panoramas, such as the viewpoint at Pha Bong. After lunch in Mae Hong Son, visit Wat Doi Kong Mu, which offers stunning views of the city and the Wat Chong Klang - Chong Kham temple complex. You will stay 1 night in a beautifully situated resort.

Day 3: Mae Hong Son - Pai (approx. 150 km)

Today you will have a special encounter with one of the most remarkable hill tribes in the world, the Karen Paduang, better known as 'Longnecks'. These women wear many neck rings with which they 'stretch' their neck. You take a boat trip on the Pai River to the village near the border with Myanmar. After lunch you will drive on one of the most beautiful routes in Thailand and you will also pass the highest point in Thailand accessible by road. You will visit the impressive Tham Lod caves through which a river flow. You will stay 1 night in scenic Pai. Here you can explore the famous walking street in the evening

Day 4: Pai - Chiang Rai (approx. 290 km)

Today you will take a walk to the beautiful Mok Fa waterfall. After visiting the local market in Mae Malai, where you can eat grilled insects (well worth a try!), your next stop will be in Thaton. Here you can enjoy the beautiful view over the valley of the Mae Kok River. After lunch you will visit a tea plantation in the Mae Salong Mountains. In the afternoon you will arrive in the nice town of Chiang Rai where you will stay 2 nights.

Day 5: Chiang Rai - Golden Triangle - Chiang Rai (approx. 120 km)

You will explore the town of Chiang Saen, which is home to several ruins. In the Golden Triangle you take a boat trip on the Mekong River and visit the interesting House of Opium. On the border with Myanmar you will make a stop in the town of Mae Sai. After lunch, you will visit the beautiful flower garden of the royal residence, the Mae Fah Luang Botanical Garden, in the Doi Tung Mountains.

Day 6: Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai (approx. 190 km)

After breakfast, visit the famous Rong Khun 'Snow Temple'. Then you will take a walk through the jungle to the beautiful Khun Korn waterfall. The return journey is on the scenic Doi Saket mountain route, with another stop at the Mae Kachan hot springs. In Chiang Mai you will stay 1 night in a centrally located hotel.

Day 7: Chiang Mai

This tour ends after breakfast at your hotel. You can choose to extend this tour with one of our many extension options.
